Special Event Hiring
The University of Minnesota Police Department (UMPD) offers a variety of services for special security needs on the Twin Cities Campus. University of Minnesota departments and organizations may hire UMPD Officers and/or University Security to work events such as dances, parties, seminars/lectures, sporting events, etc. Departments and organizations requesting sworn police personnel or security monitors will be billed for the service. There are two options for receiving special police and security assistance depending on the type of event you are hosting and what your needs are.
In order to ensure the safety of UMPD personnel and event attendees, the UMPD reserves the right to determine whether Police Officers or University Security are assigned to work an event. For the same reason, the UMPD also reserves the right to make the ultimate determination on the number of personnel assigned to your event. Only UMPD Police Officers and University Security can work events on the Twin Cities Campus where a police or security presence is required or desired.
