Timely Warning-September 3, 2017
On Sunday, September 3rd at approximately 1:30 a.m. the Minneapolis Police Department responded to a report of a robbery and gun shots in the area of 11th Avenue SE and 5th Street SE.
A male student walking in the area was approached by two men armed with a gun. The suspects took the victim's cell phone and cash. The suspects then ran to a vehicle that was waiting nearby. One of the suspects fired a shot towards the student just prior to entering the vehicle. The student was not injured as a result of this incident.
The victim described the first suspect as an African American male, five feet nine inches tall with a light build, 19-21 years old, black hair, wearing a two-toned hoodie with the hood up. The top portion of the hoodie was white while the bottom portion was a dark color. He was armed with a silver handgun.
The victim described the second suspect as an African American male, five foot eight inches tall with a light build, 19-21 years old.
The victim described the vehicle as a dark colored Buick sedan. The vehicle was parked on 5th Street SE, just east of 11th Avenue SE.

The Department of Public Safety is required to issue Timely Notifications for crimes that meet the criteria under the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. This crime occurred off Campus and is being investigated by the Minneapolis Police Department.
