Timely Warning-March 5, 2017
On Saturday, March 4 at approximately 8:45 p.m. the University of Minnesota Police Department responded to the report of a robbery. The crime occurred in the courtyard area between Williamson Hall and Nolte Center.
According to the police report, the victim was walking through the courtyard when a male suspect ran up behind him and pushed him. The suspect implied he had a gun and demanded the victim's phone and wallet. The victim gave his phone to the suspect, who ran to Pillsbury Drive SE, to Pleasant Street SE and then across the Northrop Plaza. It appears he may have left the scene in a silver Ford Mustang with a dark convertible top that was parked on the north side of Morrill Hall.
The victim described the suspect as black male in his early 20s, approximately five feet eight inches tall with a muscular build. He was wearing a grey hoodie and baggie, dark colored pants. The victim described the suspect's hair style as distinctive as it was faded on the sides with a flat top and it may have been in tight curls.

The Department of Public Safety is required to issue Timely Notifications for crimes that meet the criteria under the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. This crime occurred on Campus, and is being investigated by the University of Minnesota Police Department.
