On Monday, February 5, around 11 pm, officers responded to an aggravated assault at the Mayo Building on the East Bank.

The victim asked the suspect to leave the building and suspect assaulted him with a bottle. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The victim is a University of Minnesota staff member who works in facilities management.

The suspect is described as black male with shoulder length dread locks, approximately 6' - 6'1", wearing a stocking cap, tan jacket and khaki pants.

University of Minnesota Police are investigating this case. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the University of Minnesota Police Department at 612-624-COPS (2677) and reference case number UM-18-038258.

The Department of Public Safety is required to issue Timely Notifications for crimes that meet the criteria under the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. This crime occurred on Campus and is being investigated by the University of Minnesota Police Department.
